In a harrowing incident, Miss Moyosore Bright, a student of the University of Ilorin in Kwara State, miraculously escaped from kidnappers after boarding a minibus from the campus. The incident unfolded when Moyosore, a Zoology Department student, boarded a minibus, commonly referred to as “Korope,” heading towards her hostel in the Tanke area on the outskirts of the university community after her Thursday lecture.

Reports indicate that Moyosore, rendered unconscious by the minibus driver, found herself in the bush on the outskirts of Ilorin later in the evening after regaining consciousness. Remarkably, she went to the police station to report the incident independently.

Ejire Adeyemi Adetoun, the spokesperson for the police command, confirmed the incident, highlighting that no signs of violence were evident upon inspection of the student. However, Moyosore was deprived of her gold chain, ATM cards, and N3000, prompting an ongoing investigation to apprehend the culprits.

In a statement issued to journalists in Ilorin on Sunday evening, Adetoun provided details of the incident. The statement outlined that Moyosore boarded the minibus at the school terminus with the intent of heading to her hostel at Tanke. She unexpectedly regained consciousness in the bush several kilometers away from Ilorin metropolis at around 7:00 PM on the same day.

While there were no physical injuries, her gold chain, ATM cards, and a sum of N3000 were stolen. The police commissioner, CP Victor Olaiya, assured the public that the command remains steadfast in combating crimes and ensuring a secure environment for the people of Kwara.

The statement concluded with a call for the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency contact numbers provided. The incident sheds light on the need for continued vigilance and collaborative efforts to ensure the safety and security of students and citizens in the region.
