Nigeria: Rev. Fr. Basil Gbuzuo, a Catholic priest from the Units Archdiocese in Anambra, has been kidnapped

Rev. Fr. Basil Gbuzuo, a Catholic priest from the Units Archdiocese in Anambra, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning along the Eke Nkpor-Obosi Bypass while Fr. Gbuzuo was on a journey. This comes just a month after he was listed as one of the top 10 richest Catholic priests in Nigeria. The Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha has issued a statement calling for prayers for the safe release of the priest and assuring the public of their efforts to secure his freedom.

 The state police spokesman has confirmed the incident and stated that the police have launched a manhunt for the abductors. The Commissioner of Police has also addressed the Catholic priests, assuring them that everything possible will be done to rescue Fr. Gbuzuo and apprehend the kidnappers.
