Police arrest 7 suspects in Enugu raid

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested seven notorious criminals who have been active in the Holy Spirit Axis in Enugu metropolis for many years.

During the raid, police officers found nine women’s handbags, two wallets, two wheel wrenches, a hacksaw, a repairable Dell laptop, an ATM card with “Joy Akiji” inscribed on it, and national identification. A registration card with a number on it and other incriminating documents were recovered. Exhibits safely taken from the victims.

This was contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu on Wednesday.

Mr. Ndukwe said the arrests were made following a raid on the Holy Spirit Axis in Enugu metropolis on the instructions of the state Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu.

A police spokesperson said the raid and arrest took place on the evening of Friday 27 October 2023.

“Police searched Holy Ghost Railway Axis, Christ Chemist, Old Park and surrounding areas, a man notorious for attacking innocent and defenseless civilians and robbing them of their belongings. Seven suspects were arrested.

“The suspects include: Okonkwo Sunday (35 years old, alias Oga Sunny), Nwankwoala Tochukwu (25 years old, alias TC Boy). Ogbu Maduabuchi, 18 Miracle Chukwu, 20 years old. Nwari Chinedu, 23 years old. Mr. Ananchonam Chinechelem (18 years old, aka Razor) and Junior Nwamini (20 years old, aka Small), all addresses unknown.

“Suspects “All confessed to the crime, were charged in court and detained in a correctional facility,” he said.

Mr. Ndukwe said the Commissioner commended the police officers and urged them to maintain the tempo while calling on residents to continue to support the efforts of the police in flushing out unrepentant criminals in the state.
