Oyo State Police Command Addresses Misconduct Incident Involving Foreign Biker

In a recent development, the Oyo State Police Command has taken swift action in response to a viral video capturing officers demanding money from a female biker touring Nigeria from the Netherlands. The officers, now in custody, are set to face disciplinary actions, as announced in a statement released by the command.
The regrettable incident occurred along the Moniya-Iseyin Road, where the officers flagged down the Dutch tourist. In the video, they inquire about her origin and destination, expressing surprise upon learning she is from the Netherlands and heading to Abuja.
Engaging with the biker in pidgin, the officers proceeded to ask for money, leading to a somewhat perplexed exchange where the tourist questioned their request. The 1:26-minute video drew widespread reactions from Nigerians, expressing embarrassment over the behavior of the officers.
The Oyo State Police Command, acknowledging the gravity of the situation, emphasized increased supervision to prevent similar occurrences in the future. In their official statement, they encouraged the public to report any misconduct to the designated Xsquad.
