By Zuleihat Owuiye, Mamos Nigeria
In the latest news from Asaba, the Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended Asaba High Chief Obi Nduka Elunor on charges of land racketeering and illegal possession of firearms. The operation also led to the arrest of seven of Elunor’s men at his palace, with the discovery of guns and other incriminating items. The arrest followed a petition from community members accusing Elunor of “land grabbing” in Ugwu-Nwosu land near Asaba.
Sources reveal that during the raid, AK-47 rifles and other items were recovered. Elunor’s previous eviction of suspected IPOB members from the land and his placement of an ‘Asagba of Asaba’ board raised suspicions. As the investigation unfolds, a top civil servant attempted to intervene but was denied the opportunity to take Elunor on bail.
A senior DSS officer confirmed the incident, stating that Elunor might be released on bail or the case handed over to the police for further investigation. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
