Nigeria: Anambra Security Forces Detain 30 Individuals Suspected of Cybercrime

The Nnewi Vigilance Service in Anambra State recently apprehended 30 individuals suspected of involvement in cybercrime and kidnapping during an operation known as “Operation Sweep” at two buildings in Obiofia, Nnewichi-Nnewi. 

The vigilante group is committed to maintaining a safe environment in Nnewi, addressing issues such as kidnapping, armed robbery, cybercrime, and exploitation of young girls. 

The raid also resulted in the rescue of young girls reportedly exploited by the criminals, along with the confiscation of charms, mobile phones, and numerous SIM cards. The suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation and potential prosecution, while the facilities housing them have been sealed for additional scrutiny. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and stated that the interrogation of the suspects is underway.
