Nigeria: Enugu Community Embraces Peaceful Resurgence Following 2-Year Crisis

Imufu Community in Enugu State is celebrating the return of peace after a period of crisis marked by insecurity. In a significant move towards lasting security, the community has established a well-equipped Neighbourhood Watch security outfit, inaugurated amidst the presence of government officials, security personnel, community leaders, and others.
The event was graced by notable figures, including the traditional ruler, Remigius Attah, President of the Town Union Lawrence Mamah, and Neighbourhood Watch Commander for Enugu North Senatorial District, Anselem Odo. The community had faced insecurity due to the presence of criminal elements, leading to harassment, kidnappings, and violence. The Nigerian military intervened, dismantling their camp, resulting in a notable improvement in the security situation.
Expressing joy in a welcome address, former President of Imufu Town Union, Mr. Edwin Ossai, highlighted the community’s commitment to restoring peace. The once-united community faced months of insecurity, prompting collective efforts to address the challenges. Today marks a significant turning point as Imufu comes together, reclaiming its unity and peace.
