The Kwara State Fire Service has said it has recovered the body of a seven-year-old boy identified as Abdul Hayi from a domestic well in Akerebiata area of ​​Ilorin East Local Government Area of ​​the state.

According to reports, the boy slipped and fell into a well Monday night and died before members of the State Fire Marshal’s Office could recover his body.

The boy’s body was later handed over to Mr. Yousaf, believed to be a member of the deceased’s family.

According to a statement by the Director of Media and Public Relations, Kwara State Fire Service, made available to Punch Metro on Tuesday, Hassan Adekunle said: “On Monday, November 6, 2023, a boy of about 7 years of age named Abdul Hayi was born at Yaa Latif House, Tinu Street Akerebiata, Ilorin East Local Government Area of ​​Kwara State, in a household.

“The gruesome incident occurred at about 5:28 p.m., when the brigade was called to action by a neighbor, Mr. Idowu.

“However, the fire department was able to recover the body from the well and later handed it over to the deceased’s family, Mr. Yusuf.

“According to reports, the boy went to the well to fetch water. In the process, one of his feet suddenly slipped off the ground and he fell into the well.”

Adekunle, Kwara Chief According to the State Fire Service, Prince Farade Olumuyiwa expressed sadness over the incident.

The director appealed to the public to be more careful in their daily lives and refrain from sending their minor children to fetch water from domestic wells.
