Imo State Police Apprehend 18 Suspected IPOB Members in Connection with Killing of Officers at Ahiara Junction
In a tragic incident at Ahiara Junction in Ahiazu-Mbaise Local Government Area, Imo State, 18 suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have been arrested by the Imo State Police Command. The suspects, dressed in military camouflage, attacked officers who had stopped to refuel their vehicles on Monday, resulting in the death of the divisional police officer of Ahiazu-Mbaise and an inspector. Despite the officers’ courageous response, the assailants managed to escape, leaving behind operational motorcycles. Swift reinforcement by the military, led by the Brigade Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, is aiding ongoing efforts to comb the area for the perpetrators. The 18 suspects are currently under investigation.
