Nigeria:37 jail for internet fraud in ogun state

The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully convicted and sentenced 37 individuals involved in internet fraud between November and December 2023.
The convicts were prosecuted before various judges in Oyo and Ogun States. They were charged with separate counts related to internet fraud.
The EFCC provided evidence and documents to support the charges, and the defendants pleaded guilty. The courts sentenced the convicts to imprisonment ranging from one month to one year, as well as community service. They were also ordered to restitute their victims and forfeit their recovered assets to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
