The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, has responded to allegations of negligence in the death of a student, Ajayi Abimbola Adejoke. The management of the polytechnic clarified that Adejoke passed away due to pregnancy-related complications and not as a result of any negligence from the school’s clinic. The Public Relations Officer of the polytechnic,

Mr. Sola Abiala, issued a statement to address the circulating rumors. Some students had accused the staff members of the school clinic of being high-handed and delaying treatment for Adejoke. However, the polytechnic’s medical reports revealed that she was properly attended to and, realizing the need for specialized care, was referred to a private hospital outside the institution. She was accompanied by her boyfriend and was transported in the school clinic’s ambulance. Unfortunately, she passed away at the private hospital. The polytechnic expressed its regrets over the incident and extended condolences to Adejoke’s parents. They emphasized that her death was not a result of negligence but rather a tragic outcome of pregnancy-related complications.
