Nigeria: The Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria

The Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN) has expressed its condolences to Ray Ekpu, a veteran journalist and former Chief Executive Officer of Newswatch Magazine, on the passing of his wife, Uyai Ekpu. Uyai, aged 73, passed away on April 21, 2024, after a brief illness. In a letter addressed to Ray Ekpu, NPAN President Kabiru Yusuf described Uyai as a quintessential management and training specialist, as well as a seasoned administrator. The association noted that her death has left a deep void in the nation’s socio-development landscape. NPAN

 commiserated with Ray Ekpu and his family, offering prayers for consolation and strength during this difficult time. Uyai, a former senior staff of the Centre for Management Development, was known for her dedication to community service and her compassionate nature. She is survived by her husband and three children. Ray Ekpu will announce the details of the funeral arrangements at a later time.
