Nigeria: Edo State Police Command announces prosecution of several suspected cultists

The Edo State Police Command has announced that it will prosecute several suspected cultists who were arrested in connection with the murder of Braimoh Fulani. The incident took place in the South Ibie area of the state, where Braimoh Fulani was killed in the presence of his daughter. According to reports, the perpetrators, believed to be members of the Aye Confraternity, arrived at the scene in a Lexus car.

The violence that led to Braimoh Fulani’s death was said to be a retaliatory strike by the Aye group in response to an earlier attack on one of their members, identified as Emma, who was killed in Auchi. The Edo State Police Command has confirmed that some of the suspects involved in the series of attacks have been arrested.

The spokesperson for the command, Chidi Nwabuzor, stated that three individuals lost their lives in the attacks that occurred between The victims were identified as Umoru, Emmanuel Odiase, and Braimoh Fulani. Nwabuzor also revealed that seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the attacks.

The police investigation into the matter is ongoing, and upon its conclusion, the suspects will be arraigned in court. The Edo State Police Command is determined to bring the culprits to justice and put an end to the cult-related violence that has plagued the state. It is worth noting that cult clashes and gun violence have resulted in over 180 fatalities in Edo State between Januar and according to a report by the Partnerships Initiatives in the Niger Delta.

The recent incidents highlight the need for continued efforts to combat cultism and maintain peace and security in the state. The Edo State Police Command is committed to working with the public and local vigilantes to ensure the safety of the residents and hold those responsible for the crimes accountable.
