Nigeria: Man kills mother for food in Akwa Ibom

Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested Akaniyen Sunday Isaac for allegedly beating his mother to death after she refused to feed him.
Akwa Ibom State Command Police Spokesperson, SP Odiko Makdon confirmed the incident in Uyo.
According to Macdon, “The command has arrested Akanyene Sunday Isaac, 23, for the murder of her biological mother, Christiana Sunday Isaac, 55.”
“Both of them are from the village of Oruk Uso Otoro in the Abak Region” Government area of the state.
“Abaq Division operatives arrested the suspect on his October 11th. He confessed to the crime and claimed that his mother did not feed him for three days.
“There, he used a machete to seriously injure her, which caused her death. Once the investigation is complete, the suspect will have his day in court.”
However, a family member said, “The trouble started when Akaninyene asked his mother for money.
“Every time he asked for money, she always gave him money. But this time… A woman told him she didn’t have money.
“This young man has to take care of his mother. In a fit of rage, he grabbed a machete and slashed his mother, who passed out before she could be treated.
“A large family grieved.” The woman who was killed was a gentle person. This tragedy is truly unfortunate.”
