Nigeria: “Christmas Day Tragedy: Two Siblings Drown at Ibeshe Beach in Lagos”

Tragedy struck on Christmas Day at Ibeshe Beach in Lagos as two brothers lost their lives due to drowning. The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident after receiving a report from someone at approximately 6 p.m. The siblings, aged 26 and 23 and identified by the surname Adegboyega, were residents of Festac Town.

According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Command’s spokesperson, the brothers were swimming with friends when the unfortunate incident occurred. Despite the efforts of friends and local divers to rescue them, the attempts proved futile. Detectives from the police visited the scene of the drowning, and local divers were engaged to locate the bodies.

The family of the deceased was informed of the tragic event. The incident serves as a somber reminder of the dangers associated with water-related activities, especially during festive periods. The community mourns the loss of the two siblings as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
