In an Ikeja High Court, Sulaiman Olabode, a 36-year-old driver, received a 14-year prison sentence for attempted robbery. Justice O.A. Ogala delivered the verdict after Olabode, initially pleading not guilty to armed robbery, opted for a plea bargain agreement during the trial.

The prosecution, supported by three witnesses, amended the charge to reflect the attempted robbery. Olabode admitted attempting to rob Adedeji Oluwaseun of a Nokia X Windows phone on September 18, 2016, at No. 34 Gbeleyi Street, Alakuko, Lagos State.

The court, considering Section 298(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, found Olabode guilty and imposed a 14-year sentence starting from October 28, 2016, the day of remand.
