In a heartbreaking incident in Skegness, Lincolnshire, a two-year-old boy named Bronson Battersby was discovered lifeless next to his father, Kenneth, who had suffered a heart attack five days earlier. The incident unfolded after a routine visit by a social worker on January 2, which went unanswered.

The family revealed that Kenneth, aged 60, likely experienced a heart attack shortly after being last seen alive on Boxing Day. Despite the vulnerable status of Bronson, who was checked on weekly, the bodies were not found until January 9 when the social worker used a key to enter the home.

Bronson’s mother, Sarah Piesse, blames social services for the tragic outcome, expressing that if they had taken prompt action, Bronson might still be alive. Post-mortem results indicated that Bronson starved to death following his father’s demise.

Sarah, who last saw Bronson before Christmas after a disagreement with Kenneth, is devastated. She emphasizes the need to rely on social workers to ensure children’s safety.

The heartbreaking incident has left the family grieving, with Bronson’s sister expressing anger and sorrow on social media. The toddler, remembered for his love of nursery rhymes and the Cocomelon, was found deceased next to his father, who had been unemployed and dealing with a pre-existing heart condition.

Heather Sandy, executive director for children’s services, acknowledged the tragedy and stated that the family is receiving support during this difficult time.

This incident raises questions about the role of social services in safeguarding vulnerable individuals, as the family copes with the devastating loss of young Bronson.
