An evangelist at the Celestial Church of Christ, Grace of Comfort Parish, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Morris Fadehan, met his tragic end when one of his assistants, identified as Lekan Ogundipe, allegedly attacked him over an unresolved dispute.

The incident took place at the church altar, situated in the Omitoto area of Ile-Ife. According to a security source in Ile-Ife, the suspect had an ongoing argument with the late Shepard, which escalated from an assault on a prophetess that occurred the previous Wednesday.

On Monday, the suspect reportedly entered the church and launched a violent attack on Fadehan while he was praying at the altar. The assailant covered the clergyman’s head with a cloth and proceeded to stab him multiple times in the neck and head.

After the attack, the suspect went to a church elder, Pa Olafare, and claimed that the pastor’s body was on fire inside the church. Pa Olafare, along with his wife, rushed to the scene and found the pastor’s burnt body. There were also bloodstains and cuts on various parts of the body.

Upon questioning, the suspect confessed to the police that he committed the crime due to a dispute with the deceased. The prophetess, who was also a victim of the suspect’s aggression, stated that she had warned him to stop telling church members that they were in a relationship.

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect is in custody for further investigation. The body of the deceased has been taken to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital for an autopsy.

In conclusion, this tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of unresolved disputes and the importance of maintaining peace and harmony within religious communities.
