The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed a total of 304,436kg kilograms and 40,042 litres of illicit substances seized from parts of Lagos and Ogun states. The Chairman of the agency, Brig Gen Buba Marwa (retd), stated that the open destruction of the seized drugs followed court orders. He called for more public support for ongoing efforts to curb substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria. The drugs were seized by the NDLEA operatives across different formations of the agency in Lagos and Ogun states from April 2024 till date,

especially at the Lagos seaports, airports, and land borders. The destruction of these seizures complies with the NDLEA Act, which mandates the agency to destroy all drug exhibits after prosecution. The NDLEA expressed appreciation to its local and international partners, as well as other law enforcement agencies, for their support in tackling the drug menace. The agency assured the public that it will continue its efforts to end the drug scourge in the country and called for more public support in the War Against Drug Abuse campaign. The Lagos State Government also commended the NDLEA for its resolute fight against illicit drugs and pledged continued collaboration with the agency.
