Adamu Isah was given eight cane strokes by a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for stealing 10 live chickens.

He was advised by Ibrahim Emmanuel, the Magistrate, to abstain from criminal activity and maintain good behavior going forward.

The convict conceded to criminal trespass and burglary and asked the court for mercy, promising to be of acceptable conduct.

Isah was accused of a three-count charge of criminal intrigue, trespass, and burglary.

The prosecutor, Chidi Leo, previously informed the court that Sani Rabiu reported the incident on May 13 at the Gabasawa Police Station.

He said the respondent and two others at large conspired and took 10 live chickens from a poultry ranch situated at Kawo.

Leo said that the defendant, who tried to get away with the chicken in a bag, was caught while his friends are still out there.

The offense violated Kaduna State’s 2017 Penal Code sections 308, 233, and 217, according to the prosecutor.
