In a bid to address noise pollution and uphold environmental regulations, the Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), has recently sealed off several establishments, including a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), and six others. This move comes as part of the ongoing efforts to create a peaceful and sustainable environment in various parts of Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Lekki, and Ajah in the Lagos Island axis.

The affected establishments include Dominion City Church, Red Bar, Farm City, The Odyssey Apartments, Acuma Event Centre, and Fortunes Shortlet Apartment. This action follows a similar initiative taken by LASEPA late last year when various branches of religious centers, including RCCG, were sealed for environmental offenses.

LASEPA, through its official communication channels, emphasized that the closures were in line with its mandate to protect the environment from noise pollution and other infractions. The sealed establishments, ranging from lounges and bars to churches and residential apartments, were identified as having violated the state’s environmental regulations.

The diverse locations of these establishments underline the widespread nature of noise pollution concerns in different parts of the Lagos Island area. LASEPA’s announcement on Thursday reinforced the commitment of the state government to maintaining a safer, cleaner, and environmentally friendly living space.

The agency stated, “We have sealed up several establishments, including a lounge, bar, event centre, churches, and residential apartments for violating the state’s environmental regulations.” The specific establishments, namely Red Bar, Farm City, The Odyssey Apartments, Acuma Event Centre, Dominion City Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God (The New Covenant Assembly), and Fortunes Shortlet Apartment, were targeted based on identified instances of noise pollution and other environmental violations.

LASEPA reiterated its dedication to ensuring a peaceful and sustainable environment, emphasizing the importance of adherence to environmental regulations. The move aligns with the broader goal of fostering a community that prioritizes environmental responsibility and the well-being of its residents.

As the state government takes decisive measures to curb noise pollution, it reflects an ongoing commitment to creating a conducive living environment that promotes the health and quality of life of Lagos residents.
