Mrs. Becky Folorunso, a senior secondary school student’s mother, has demanded that the principal of Pholex Private School, Ebute-Meta in Lagos, be held accountable for allegedly assaulting her son for failing to write class notes.

Folorunso stated in an interview with PUNCH Metro on Friday that the principal, Adewale Adetona, had previously flogged her son Adam in this manner.

The boy’s back was covered in bruises that our correspondent assumed were caused by whips.

The troubled mother claimed that even though she had reprimanded her son and warned him not to write his class notes, she should not have beaten her child to such an extent.

She urged the relevant Lagos State Government agencies, particularly the State Universal Basic Education Board, to get involved in the situation.

Folorunso stated, “He is not a bad boy, but he is a playful son.” He returned home a couple of days prior and told me ‘Mummy, this beating is excessively.’ He showed me his back and I saw wounds. But not exactly like this one. He claimed that was because he did not compose a single note. I admonished him and cautioned him to continuously compose his notes.

“Yet, when he returned home on Thursday, May 25, he cried, ‘Mummy, I can’t take this any longer.’ At the point when he eliminated his uniform and showed me his back, I was stunned and asked what has been going on with him. He claimed it was because his Social Studies notes were incomplete.
