Lagos Faces Calls for Compensation as Ex-Serviceman Seeks Redress for Demolished Property

Yussuf Fasanya, an ex-serviceman, is in distress after his home was demolished to make way for a Lagos State agricultural processing hub. Seeking compensation, Fasanya recounts the demolition carried out by RHEMA Project BCEGI on May 2, 2023, with no prior notice. Despite refusing an initial offer to vacate, he was later arrested, and his property was razed. Fasanya, who purchased the land in 1976, pleads for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s intervention.

Legal efforts for compensation have been met with resistance from Lagos State, citing Fasanya as an illegal occupant. The lawyer asserts the legality of Fasanya’s ownership.

Despite attempts to contact BCEGI, there has been no response. A March 6, 2023, post from BCEGI highlighted their collaboration with Lagos State on a food hub project.
