Nigeria: Ibadan explosion: Residents blame Malian illegal miners for FG probe explosion

The recent explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State has left residents devastated and searching for answers. 

Some residents have blamed Malian illegal miners for the explosion, stating that they brought explosive materials for their mining work. President Bola Tinubu has called on government agencies to investigate and punish those responsible for the blast.

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, confirmed that preliminary investigations revealed foreign names in the documents of the company involved in the explosion.

The Federal Executive Council has set up a committee to review the laws guiding the control of explosives in the country. The Nigeria Police Force has deployed Explosives Ordinance Disposal experts to the affected areas, and the National Emergency Management Authority has reported that 58 houses were affected by the explosion. The Oyo State Government has set up an emergency situation hub to coordinate relief efforts for the victims.
