Adama Barrow challenged the newly appointed senior government officials to
innovate and adopt new strategies in governance in order to enhance delivery
and performance in the civil service.
The president made the call while presiding over the swearing-in of the new ministers of defence, and interior; permanent secretaries for the ministries of tourism, and trade and regional integration, and the executive secretary of the National Human Rights Commission.
While expressing confidence in the experience and expertise of the new ministers, President Barrow revealed that the ministerial appointments were necessitated by the need to fast-track the ongoing security sector reforms.
‘’Because it is also important to fast track the internal security sector reforms, I trust that with the new Interior Minister, a sharper focus and more urgency will attend the security reform programme’’, the president said.
President Barrow encourage all and sundry in the government workforce to adhere to progressive work ethics and assert the right disciplinary measures and standards to optimize results.
