In a groundbreaking medical feat, a team of surgeons at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, Massachusetts, achieved a historic milestone by successfully transplanting a genetically-modified pig kidney into a human recipient. This pioneering procedure, conducted on a 62-year-old man suffering from end-stage kidney disease, marks a significant advancement in the field of organ transplantation.

The four-hour operation, which took place on Saturday, represents a pivotal moment in addressing the chronic shortage of organs available for transplantation worldwide.
