Ukraine: Ukraine’s front-line troops appear to be preparing for a counteroffensive with an attack

In what appeared to be the preliminary stages of Ukraine’s long-anticipated counteroffensive, Ukrainian troops attacked at multiple points along the frontline in the Donetsk region on Monday, driving back Russian forces in at least two areas.

After his government declared that it had shifted to offensive operations in some sectors, with reports of intense close-quarter fighting in several locations, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy praised the advances made by Ukraine’s “warriors.”

Ukrainian officials portrayed the assaults as “neighborhood” activities, and dismissed the Russian protection service’s cases almost immediately Monday that the significant counteroffensive had started and had proactively been upset for extreme price to the aggressors.

Russian militia leaders and military bloggers who claimed that Ukrainian forces had advanced around the city of Bakhmut in northern Donetsk and the village of Novodonetske in the west of the region also undermined Moscow’s claims that it had repelled all of the attacks.

“Great, champions! We observe the hilarious way Russia reacts to any move we make there or position we adopt. In a video message that was shared on social media on Monday night, Zelenskiy stated, “The enemy knows that Ukraine will win.”

The fact that the 12-brigade assault force that Ukraine has built up over the past few months with the help of western training and equipment did not appear to be used much in the Ukraine offensive operations suggests that these could be preliminary attacks aimed at probing and stretching Russian defenses ahead of a much larger push.
