More about the story about the ammunition depot in Russian-controlled territory.
A spokesperson for the Odesa military administration, Serhiy Bratchuk, stated on Sunday that Ukrainian forces destroyed a “very significant” ammunition depot near the Russian-occupied port city of Henichesk in the Kherson region’s southern region.
In a Sunday morning video message, Bratchuk stated, “Our armed forces dealt a good blow in the morning – and a very loud one – in the village of Rykove, Henichesk district, in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region.” A significant ammunition storage facility existed. It was demolished.
The information could not be independently verified by Reuters. Russia also did not immediately provide a response regarding the alleged attack.
Videos posted by Ukrainian media showed a huge cloud of smoke rising far below the horizon and the sounds of explosions and burning projectiles hitting the sky.
Rykove is about 20 kilometers from Henichesk, a port city in southern Ukraine along the Sea of Azov that has been occupied by Kremlin forces since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Rykove is on a railway line.
