A senior official from the Ukrainian government disclosed on Wednesday that Rafael Grossi, the UN nuclear chief, has postponed a trip to Ukraine’s Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant until it is safer to travel there.

After the talks on Tuesday in Kyiv, Grossi was supposed to visit the facility on Wednesday. However, a diplomatic source said the visit would be delayed by “some hours.” A local official imposed by Russia was quoted by the Russian news agency Interfax as saying that Grossi would visit the plant on Thursday.

The senior official in the Ukrainian government, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity, stated, “He’s waiting to be able to travel safely.” The authority didn’t say when Grossi would show up at the plant in southeastern Ukraine.
