The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (GSIC) Invites All Media Outlets to the
Announcement of the Start of Ramadan 1444H / 2023.
Kanifing, The Gambia – The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (GSIC), the umbrella body
of Islamic organizations and associations in The Gambia, is pleased to invite all media
outlets to the announcement of the start of Ramadan 1444 Hijri, on Tuesday 21st March
2023 corresponding to 29th Sha’ban 1444 Hijri.
The GSIC will make the announcement on the aforementioned date at 20:30 GMT at the
GSIC Administrative Premises along the M.D.I Road, Kanifing. This announcement is
of great significance to Muslims all over The Gambia as it marks the beginning of the
blessed month of Ramadan, a time of spiritual reflection, prayer, and fasting.
We invite all media outlets to attend this announcement and cover the event. This is an
excellent opportunity for the media to showcase the diversity and richness of Islamic
culture and traditions in The Gambia. We hope that this coverage will contribute to
fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of the Muslim community in The
Gambia.
