PUBLIC NOTICE
The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council in close collaboration with his eminence the
Imam Ratib of Banjul, Imam Cherno Alieu Muadh Kah, the Fatwa and Moon
Sighting Committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Mbye Kebba Kah, and the
regional committees of the council, is hereby announcing that the crescent/moon
for Ramadan 1444/2023 has not been sighted in the Gambia and its neighbouring
countries.
Therefore, the Council is declaring Thursday 23rd of March 2023 as the First day
of the Blessed Month of Ramadan 1444/2023. In this context, The Gambia
Supreme Islamic Council congratulates His Excellency, Adama Barrow, President
of the Republic of The Gambia, his government and the entire people and
residents of The Gambia on the blessed month of Ramadan and praying for
peace, stability, and success in all our affairs.
