A former newspaper editor, Prof Baba Galleh Jallow, has been appointed the executive secretary of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission TRRC, that will probe the rights violations of the former dictator Yahya Jammeh.
According to a press release from the Communications ministry, President Barrow made the decision after consultation with the Minister of Justice and the Public Services Commission.
Jallow holds a PhD in African History from the University of California at Davis, a master’s degree in Liberal Studies from Rutgers University and a bachelor of arts degree in History and Political Science from the University of Sierra Leone.
Prior to his appointment Dr Jallow served as an assistant professor at the Department of History at La Salle University in the United States.
