Despite being awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the Regional Maritime University in Ghana, a leading regional maritime education, and training institute in West Africa, President Adama Barrow wants to be addressed as Mr Adama Barrow, a press statement from the Presidency stated on Thursday evening.
Readers would recall that President Adama Barrow was on Thursday, December 6, 2018 conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Regional Maritime University in Ghana, for distinguishing himself as an excellent statesman who has demonstrated a strong ‘’commitment to democracy, rule of law, social justice and respect for human rights, among others.

“It has been brought to the attention of the Presidency that a supposed memo from the State House is making rounds on social media falsely claiming that His Excellency, President Adama Barrow should be addressed as ‘Doctor Adama Barrow’, after the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree by the Regional Maritime University in Ghana.
This information is false. The public is hereby informed that President Barrow would like to be addressed simply as Mr. Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia,” the release stated.
