Nigeria: Samuel Adekoya, a student at the Federal Polytechnic in Ilaro, Ogun State, is said to have committed suicide.

Samuel Adekoya, a student at the Federal Polytechnic in Ilaro, Ogun State, is said to have committed suicide by drinking a chemical after losing both his fees and those of a friend to online betting.
It was learned that the deceased played online betting on Friday using his school fees but lost.
Adekoya, who was a Public Certificate II understudy of Electrical Electronic Designing, supposedly serious self destruction on Monday, when his partners were planning for their first-semester test.
According to reports, he got his friend, who shared a room with him, a password, used his fee to play, and both of them lost.
It was learned that the school had informed students that they would not be permitted to take an exam unless they had registered.
Adegoke was said to have been rushed to the school clinic, where he was later referred to a specialist hospital in Ilaro, outside the school, where he died.
The school’s Deputy Registrar for Public Relations, Sola Abiala, confirmed the incident by stating that the school quickly referred him to a specialist hospital to save his life, but he was pronounced dead shortly after being admitted.
