Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has issued a stern ultimatum to occupants of illegal structures at the Abuja Technology Village. The directive came during his inspection of the site in Pyakasa, Abuja, alongside the Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji.

Wike emphasized that the Federal Government had already reached a settlement with the illegal occupants back in 2015, urging them to relocate. However, despite the agreement, the number of unauthorized structures continued to increase, prompting the need for decisive action to reinforce the government’s stance.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Nnaji, underlined the strategic importance of the Abuja Technology Village as a hub for emerging technologies that the Federal Government is keen on adopting. He stressed the need to clearly demarcate the area to attract investors and effectively realize the government’s technological aspirations.

The ultimatum from Wike underscores the government’s commitment to reclaiming and preserving the Abuja Technology Village for its intended purpose. This move also signals the government’s resolve to enforce land use regulations and uphold the integrity of designated areas within the FCT.
