The conference, organized by Victor Ademofe, aimed to bring together artists and trumpet players in a collaborative environment to learn from one another and inspire greatness.
During the conference, Victor Ademofe shared his personal experience and the impact it had on his career. He recounted a meeting with the late trumpeter, Hugh Masekela, who praised his performance and encouraged him to be original. Masekela emphasized the importance of staying true to one’s self and finding one’s identity as an artist. Ademofe urged the participants to discover their own voices and tap into the rich cultural heritage that forms the foundation of their craft.
Other accomplished trumpeters, including Olabisi Julius and Etuk Ubong, also shared their insights and encouraged the attendees to continuously evolve their sounds and remain authentic in their musical journeys. The conference also featured a session by Victory Emmanuel, a medical doctor and trumpeter, who discussed the importance of health and wellness for trumpet players. Emmanuel debunked common myths that discourage parents from allowing their children to pursue trumpet playing.
The Lagos Trumpet Conference served as a platform for trumpet players to come together, exchange knowledge, and inspire one another. The conference emphasized the significance of the trumpet as an instrument and the influential role that trumpet players play in the world of music.
The conference aimed to empower trumpet players to embrace their leadership potential and navigate their artistic journeys with clarity and purpose.
