Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 72 students of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Anti-corruption agencies carried out the raid on Monday morning.
The early morning raids took place at two large off-campus hostels in the city, and the students and their vehicles were taken to the commission’s office in Ibadan.
Confirming the incident, the President of the OAU Students Union, Akinremi Abbas, said the union leadership was on its way to Ibadan to learn more about the early morning incident.
We strongly condemn the recent unjustified arrest and harassment of fellow students by members of the EFCC @officialEFCC at odd hours today, November 1, 2023. This behavior is unacceptable and violates the principles of justice and due process. #OAUTwitter #FreeOAUStudents pic.twitter.com/743d9r3i1G
