In a tragic incident that unfolded in the village of Faljagadh, near the Indian capital Delhi, a 52-year-old man, Dharamveer, shocked the community by brutally attacking and beheading his 50-year-old wife, Sundari, reportedly over a delayed cup of tea. The horrifying incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday.

As per reports by Biodun Busari for Vanguard News on December 20, 2023, Dharamveer stabbed his wife 15 times with a sword after she informed him that his morning tea would take an additional 10 minutes to prepare. The violent episode took place in the family’s makeshift kitchen on the terrace, while their four children were still asleep.

According to Police Superintendent Vivek Yadav, Sundari, accustomed to waking up early to prepare tea, faced her husband’s wrath when she couldn’t meet his immediate demand. Dharamveer, in a fit of rage, retrieved a sword and used it to attack his wife, resulting in her tragic demise.

The couple’s son, named Soldier, rushed to the scene upon hearing his mother’s screams, only to witness her bleeding profusely. Reportedly, Dharamveer also attacked his own children as they attempted to assist their mother, compelling them to flee to their room.

Soldier recounted the harrowing experience, stating that his father had become angry over tea before but had never resorted to physical violence. Villagers, alerted by the cries of the children, intervened and found Sundari lifeless in a pool of blood. The police were immediately called, and Sundari’s body was taken for autopsy.

Dharamveer was apprehended by the police while attempting to flee towards sugarcane crop fields, brandishing the sword. The authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gyan Prakash Rai, confirmed the violent nature of the confrontation, stating, “Dharamveer and Sundari had a fight over making tea. He then took out a sharp weapon and attacked her on the neck from behind, which led to her immediate death.”

This tragic incident sheds light on domestic violence over seemingly trivial matters and underscores the urgent need for societal awareness and intervention to prevent such horrific events.
