In a heartbreaking turn of events, Oriyomi Remilekun, a Lagos-based prophet, lost his life in a tragic drowning incident during a beach hangout in the Ajah area of Lagos State. Remilekun, described as a fun-loving individual, led some members of his white garment church to Avista Beach on Saturday, February 17, to mark Valentine’s Day festivities.

According to sources, the group of 16 church members, who had initially gathered at a short-term rental apartment near the beach, moved to Avista Beach Resort to continue their celebration. The outing, which included a picnic and other activities, came to an abrupt halt when Remilekun’s whereabouts became unknown.

Concerned colleagues immediately initiated a search, but their efforts proved futile. They returned to the beach the next morning and reported the incident to the nearest police station. The management of Avista Beach later confirmed the tragic news, revealing that Remilekun’s body was discovered washed ashore on a different beach in the area.

The loss of Remilekun has left his community and church members in mourning. Many took to social media to express their grief and pay tribute to the late prophet. Erinle Abel, a Facebook user, described Remilekun as a gifted, humble, and active prophet who had made a positive impact on many lives. The tragic incident has raised questions about safety protocols at beach resorts and the need for increased awareness of water safety.

As of now, the police have not commented on the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
