At a mining site near Tanjol in the Jol community of the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, gunmen shot and killed three people on Friday.
The Berom Youth Movement’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the incident in Jos on Friday.
Tengwong said that the incident happened around 11 a.m., and that two other people were hurt.
“At a mining site in the Tanjol area of the Jol community of Riyom, gunmen killed three people and injured two others about 11 a.m., according to reports.
He stated, “The injured persons are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.”
Tengwong called on the government and security agencies to work harder to ensure the safety of people and property in rural communities, describing the attack as one more.
Although a senior police officer confirmed the attack, Mr. Alfred Alabo, the Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Plateau, did not answer several calls to his line.
