The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended four individuals for orchestrating a fake kidnapping incident involving a woman named Agnes Ogbeh. The suspects include Agnes herself, as well as Margaret Itodo, Esther Anyanwu, and Anthony Chinakwe. Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrests and shared a video of the staged kidnapping on his official X account.

According to the police statement, Agnes Ogbeh, a resident of Akure, Ondo State, had traveled to Lagos and was reported to have been kidnapped there on March 19, 2024. Agnes’ family in Akure received a video showing her and another person tied up, gagged, and appearing to be in distress, with blood droplets around them. However, it was later discovered that the entire incident was fabricated.

The kidnappers demanded a ransom of N5 million for Agnes’ release. Upon receiving the complaint, the police detectives initiated a discreet and thorough investigation into the matter. They were able to locate the hideout where Agnes, the other person seen in the video, and two additional individuals were residing freely.

Further investigation revealed that Margaret Itodo, a professional make-up artist, had been hired to make the video look realistic. All four suspects have made confessions, and they will be arraigned once the investigation is concluded.
