The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, held a meeting with delegates from the United States Treasury Department and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to enhance financial intelligence capabilities and strengthen the fight against corruption, counterterrorism financing, and money laundering.

During the meeting, the Inspector-General of Police emphasized the need for the Force Intelligence Department and the Nigerian intelligence community as a whole to intensify their operations against terrorists and kidnappers. In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, it was revealed that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to combating the heinous crime of kidnapping and other related vices.

The Inspector-General of Police acknowledged that kidnapping and abduction, along with other security threats, continue to pose significant challenges in certain parts of the country, thereby endangering the safety and well-being of citizens. In response to this, the Nigeria Police Force is determined to allocate adequate resources and implement effective strategies to address these challenges and ensure the safety of all Nigerians.

To achieve this, the Inspector-General of Police has directed the Force Intelligence Department to enhance its intelligence-gathering efforts and collaborate closely with other law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders. The goal is to gather actionable intelligence on kidnapping syndicates and their modus operandi across the country. Furthermore, the intelligence community at large is urged to improve coordination and information sharing to facilitate targeted operations against kidnappers and their networks, leading to the rescue of captives and the disruption of their activities.

This proactive approach demonstrates the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to maintaining peace and stability in the country. It also underscores the importance of a coordinated and collaborative effort among various security agencies and stakeholders in addressing security challenges.

The Nigeria Police Force recognizes that the fight against kidnapping requires continuous vigilance, intelligence-driven operations, and the support of the public. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or provide relevant information that can assist in combating this menace.

It is important to note that the Nigeria Police Force is dedicated to upholding the rule of law, protecting lives and property, and ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians. The efforts to combat kidnapping and other security threats are part of the broader commitment to maintaining law and order in the country.

As citizens, we have a collective responsibility to support the police and other security agencies in their efforts to create a safe and secure environment for everyone. Together, we can work towards a Nigeria where the rights and well-being of all citizens are protected.
