In a tragic incident that has shocked the community of Ondo town in Ondo State, a 45-year-old housewife and farmer, Kudirat Bolarinwa, was reportedly raped and killed by a suspected ex-convict.

The horrifying discovery was made in the Lakere area of Ayeyemi, where the victim’s naked and decomposing body was found by a police search team over the weekend. It is believed that the assailant attacked Mrs. Bolarinwa while she was accompanying him to buy plantain on a farm.

Mrs. Bolarinwa had been reported missing after failing to return from the farm on Friday, prompting her husband, Abolarinwa, to seek help from the Enu-Owa Police Division. Subsequently, a search was launched, leading to the grim discovery of her remains in the forest.

According to sources close to the investigation, a bag containing personal items belonging to the perpetrator was found at the crime scene. Further inquiries revealed that the suspect had been released from Segede prison on February 6, 2024, adding a chilling dimension to the case.

The state police command has initiated a manhunt for the fleeing suspect, with authorities expressing determination to bring the perpetrator to justice. Police spokesperson Funmi Odunlami confirmed the tragic incident, stating that the victim had suffered severe machete wounds to her face, arms, and head.

In a statement, Odunlami said, “On 08/30/2024 about 1700hrs, one Tajudeen Bolarinwa of Ago Road, Onipetesi village reported that at 1630 hrs that his wife, Mrs. Kudirat Bolarinwa aged 45 yrs, who goes from one farm to the other to buy kolanuts was killed in the bush by an unknown person.”

“The body of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue in Ondo town while efforts are ongoing to arrest the culprit,” she added.
