In a tragic incident that has shocked the community of Ondo town in Ondo State, a 45-year-old housewife and farmer, Kudirat Bolarinwa, was reportedly raped and killed by a suspected ex-convict.
The horrifying discovery was made in the Lakere area of Ayeyemi, where the victim’s naked and decomposing body was found by a police search team over the weekend. It is believed that the assailant attacked Mrs. Bolarinwa while she was accompanying him to buy plantain on a farm.
Mrs. Bolarinwa had been reported missing after failing to return from the farm on Friday, prompting her husband, Abolarinwa, to seek help from the Enu-Owa Police Division. Subsequently, a search was launched, leading to the grim discovery of her remains in the forest.
According to sources close to the investigation, a bag containing personal items belonging to the perpetrator was found at the crime scene. Further inquiries revealed that the suspect had been released from Segede prison on February 6, 2024, adding a chilling dimension to the case.
The state police command has initiated a manhunt for the fleeing suspect, with authorities expressing determination to bring the perpetrator to justice. Police spokesperson Funmi Odunlami confirmed the tragic incident, stating that the victim had suffered severe machete wounds to her face, arms, and head.
