Nigeria: super eagle captain

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has appealed to fans to stop cyberbullying teammate Alex Iwobi following Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations final. Musa urged fans to show support and love to Iwobi instead of engaging in negative behavior.

He emphasized that football is about unity and that targeting a single player for the team’s shortcomings is unfair. Other players, including William Troost-Ekong and Kenneth Omeruo, expressed their support for Iwobi and condemned the cyberbullying. Former international player Victor Ezeji also criticized the attack on Iwobi and reminded fans of the players’ efforts to represent the country. This is not the first time Iwobi has faced cyberbullying, as he previously deactivated his Instagram account after receiving abusive messages following a defeat in the 2024 edition of the tournament.
