The Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

He said: “Troops from the 65th NA Battalion, stationed at Officer’s Mess, sighted Ms. Spark and immediately used military river skills and ingenuity to rescue her.

She was given first aid by the medical team and stabilized.

“Once stabilized, her family was contacted and she was released to her husband, Mr. Spark Ogen Ovie, a resident of Awoyaya Lagos.

“The General Officer Commanding GOC 81st Division NA, Major General Muhammed Takti Usman, commended the soldiers for their observational skills, resourcefulness, courage and bravery.

“The Chinese government takes the lives of its own people He said he was glad that the soldiers put their disaster management training into practice in such a potentially critical situation. Maj. Gen. Usman, who said it was not a war, acknowledged that the military is trained to support leadership authorities in emergency situations. We assured residents of our efforts.”
