Kogi Police Commissioner Besland Onuoha on Thursday ordered an investigation into an alleged attack on a police officer during an alleged political clash in Aida Local Government Area of Kogi.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Lokoja Police Command, SP Williams Obie Aya, said the CP was concerned over a popular video showing a seriously injured police officer.
Mr. Onuoha, who condemned the incident, directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to take charge and launch an immediate investigation into the collision.
The CP reiterated the command’s unwavering determination to continue to engage key stakeholders in the security management of the elections to ensure a safe environment for the electoral process.
“This order is always determined to create a level playing field for all political parties in conducting election campaigns, rallies, marches, etc.
“But all would-be troublemakers bent on using violence to undermine the credibility of the state’s election process should avoid such actions or face the wrath of the police. “
The security management of those involved in the elections will cooperate with other security agencies and will not hesitate to take decisive action against those who disrupt the electoral process,” the CP warned. . (South)
