
Nigeria: Police capture minister for setting woman ablaze during ‘deliverance’
The Ogun State Police Command announced that one pastor, Taiwo Odebiyi, had been arrested for allegedly setting ablaze Sukura Owodunni, 21, during a deliverance service.
As per the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the episode occurred at Cherubim and Seraphim, Maberu Ward, situated in Offin, Sagamu area of Ogun State on August 17.
The pastor invited the victim to the church for a special prayer, according to reliable accounts.
She was instructed by the pastor to purchase local eggs, Amazing Grace perfume, and a candle for the special prayer.
While appealing to God for her, the minister was said to have poured the scent on the woman’s body and lit the candle.
Following the minister lit the candle, Owodunni was said to have disintegrated, making serious consumes her chest, shoulder, and legs.
It was assembled that the suspect was promptly captured after the Divisional Cop in Adigbe, CSP Abdulfattah Ogunsanya, and his men raged the Congregation premises on Tuesday.
Odutola went on to say that a new investigation had begun to figure out what happened in the awful incident.
She said, “The casualty has been taken to the emergency clinic for clinical consideration, however was said to have been deserted to battle for her doctor’s visit expenses.
“Our men have captured the suspect. The case will be moved to the State Criminal Examination Division after the fundamental examination is idealized,” Odutola said.
