Nigeria: Police capture four for Ebonyi PDP tribal leader murder

Four people have been apprehended by the Ebonyi State Police Command in connection with the murder of Mr. Peter Nweke, the ward chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in the state’s Ezza North Local Government Area.

During the March 18 elections for governorship and House Assembly, Nweke was killed in the area.

During a press conference in Abakaliki on Friday, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, also stated that at least 21 people had been declared wanted for the crime.

Kelechi Nwali, Onyebuchi Chita, Aloke Obinna, and Ifeanyi Nwokpuku were the four male suspects arrested.

“The first suspect, one Kelechi Nwali “m,” a Labour Party House of Assembly Candidate for the Ezza North Constituency, confessed during the interrogation of the suspects to hiring the assailants who were supposed to torture the victim, but the victim died as a result.

Nwali claims that the late Nweke posed a threat to his political ambitions. As a result, he got in touch with one Akwasi “M” of Nnachi Umuezeoka in Ezza North, who was in charge of the torture that led to Mr. Nweke’s death.

“Onyebuchi Chita, a member of the community of Nkomoro, the second suspect, admitted that he brought the perpetrators from Nkomoro into the community of Ogboji, where Nweke was killed.
