A 35-year-old suspected kidnapper has been apprehended by the operatives of the Kaduna Police Command, who are attached to the Commissioner of Police monitoring unit. The arrest took place in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state, and an AK-47 rifle was recovered from the suspect.

The spokesperson of the command, ASP Mansir Hassan, issued a statement explaining that the suspect was apprehended on February 12, 2024, around 1300 hours. The operation was based on credible intelligence gathered by the police, and the team acted swiftly.

The arrested individual, identified as Adamu Shuaibu from Dumale village in Kagarko LGA, is believed to be a member of a bandit group that has been terrorizing villages in and around Jere. The AK-47 rifle recovered from him is a significant piece of evidence that could lead to further arrests and prosecution of other members of the gang.

The police are currently conducting a discreet investigation to gather more information. Efforts are being made to apprehend the other members of the gang, and once the investigation is complete, the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.

Meanwhile, residents of Kalaye Road in the Hayin Banki community of Kaduna North Local Government Area have expressed concern about the influx of unfamiliar individuals in the area. These individuals, mostly seen in the morning and at night on commercial motorcycles, are causing fear among the residents.

An anonymous resident stated that the strangers, aged between 18 and 25, are occupying a building that was recently vacated by a village chieftain. The resident also mentioned that the group is often seen smoking Indian hemp and chanting slogans that have instilled fear in the peace-loving neighbors.

The matter has been reported to the Village Head, but no concrete steps have been taken to restore peace and harmony in the area. The local vigilante group is doing its best to maintain order, but the situation remains tense.

In conclusion, the arrest of the suspected kidnapper and the recovery of the AK-47 rifle are significant achievements for the Kaduna Police Command. However, the influx of strange individuals in the Hayin Banki community highlights the need for increased vigilance and community policing to ensure the safety and security of residents.
