Nigeria: Plateau killings can chairman shun DHQ invitation ,10 corpses recovered

According to the Nigerian Police Force, ten corpses have been recovered in various locations in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

 The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Mangu, Rev Timothy Daluk, has refused to withdraw his allegations against the military regarding the killings in the area. The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has invited Rev Daluk to substantiate his claims, while the CAN has stated its readiness to defend the allegations. The police have arrested nine suspects in connection with the violence and have deployed additional personnel to the troubled area. Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has strongly condemned the security breach and called for intensified efforts to guarantee peace in the state. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, plans to meet with President Bola Tinubu to discuss measures to secure the lives and property of the people. Atiku Abubakar, the 2024 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has expressed deep sadness over the violence and killings in Mangu and called for proactive measures from security agencies.
